1. A simple explanation
If you took the time to find this blog then you must be at least vaguely interested in our plans so thanks for tuning in, we hope we can keep this interesting enough for you to return. We haven't left yet but people have asked about the planning stages and what motivates a couple in their late 50's to sell up, pack up and hit the road. It started in 1975, we met in August, he fell in love in the first moment, she probably took a little longer! A month later we were flying to Panama, Bogota then Manaus (Brazil) on a 3 month trek around South America. We vowed to do it again but business, family, and pursuit of the next mortgage payment prohibited us from having the freedom required to just leave it all behind again, until now. It takes a lot of planning and some faith to walk away from the comfort zone. As far as we know we are in good health, we can still hike up a (small) mountain, drive long distance and are not too flabby to be refused a massage in Bali or Bangkok. We are fortunate to have this window of opportunity see a part of the world with which we are unfamiliar, Carpe Diem and all that.Where? Next.
